“Learn to like what doesn't cost much.
Learn to like reading, conversation, music.
Learn to like plain food, plain service, plain cooking.
Learn to like fields, trees, brooks, hiking, rowing, climbing hills.
Learn to like people, even though some of them may be different...different from you.
Learn to like to work and enjoy the satisfaction doing your job as well as it can be done.
Learn to like the song of birds, the companionship of dogs.
Learn to like gardening, puttering around the house, and fixing things.
Learn to like the sunrise and sunset, the beating of rain on the roof and windows, and the gentle fall of snow on a winter day.
Learn to keep your wants simple and refuse to be controlled by the likes and dislikes of others.”

Back to Berlin

May 2012

Finding out where I'll be spending 18 months of my life
 sure has been exciting.
To say the least.
Berlin, Germany. I leave May 1st, 2013.
Which happens to be my 20th birthday.
 Whoa there! Big day.

Last May, I was actually in Germany,
and made a 3 day stop in Berlin.
If someone told me then, that a year later,
I would be a sister missionary in Berlin,
I honestly would have laughed.
Ahem. Then probably would've asked them to shut up,
because obviously they would have been mocking me.
I'm so excited.

THIS IS A DREAM COME TRUE.

Good News? Bad News?

Here's the deal. It's my last day in Europe. We're in Switzerland. In a town on a cliff. Called Muerren. It's pouring rain outside, but is still ridiculously gorgeous. So here's my delema. I'm super homesick. But I absolutely love it here. I'm tired of living out of a suitcase, And sleeping in hotel beds. But I might die without these fluffy, feather-filled comforters. I miss my family like crazy. Especially my sister. But I cannot accept this place as a mere vacation spot. The absence of my hilarious, sweetest, bestest friends is killing me. But i'm so excited to give them their presents. The only thing I don't miss from home, Is the food. Sweet Moses. I have never eaten such delicious food in my life. Pastries will definitely be the death of me. As well as the warm fresh bread from the deli. HEAVEN. But until I have access to an actual computer, I cannot post any pictures. Bummer.

super unnatural

I'll be honest.
I have no consistency anymore.

All I want to do with free time is either:
1. Watch Reality TV on Food Network
or
2. Sleep

But. I have some good news.
Actually, I have a lot.

- My goofy brother is home from his mission. It's like he never even left. He's still Hilary Duff's biggest fan, enjoys chick-flicks with as much gusto as I, and is still the same peacemaker brother that I love.

- Kelsey just got hired at Menchie's. Which makes me life 10 times brighter. She's just a doll, and I'm ridiculously excited.

- I turn 19 in 43 days. But I leave the country in 44. How fantastic is that? So fantastic. Don't be surprised when I never shut up about it.

- I decided that I want to be involved in traveling. Just so I can travel. For cheap. Or for free. That would be so great.

But hey. Here are some pictures.

If that first picture doesn't make you squirm...
I worry for you.

Oh hey.
I'm still somewhat alive.
I just took a "soul searching break" as I would categorize it.
Don't worry, you don't need to write my obituary yet
(speaking of, they are not the funnest things to read).

PAST
In my soul searching journey, I discovered many things about life.
Particularly my life. Obviously.

But I thought I'd share some of them.
Ten to be specific.
Or just put them down on record somewhere, so I don't forget.

1. Satan freaking hates me (oh, and he hates you too).
2. Jesus Christ loves me (oh, and yes, he loves you too).
3. Family relationships are second to my relationship with Christ,
and they always should be.
4. Friendships &relationships (or lack thereof)
are third to my relationship with Christ.
5. Music has a tendency to calm my heart, and always will.
6. I'm nervous/scared/terrified of my future. Because of Satan.
7. Scriptures also have a tendency to calm me.
Weird right? Psych. Not even.
8. Sometimes I just need a big bear hug. Usually on a daily basis.
9. Kitten pictures never fail to make me smile, giggle, smirk,
or all of the above.
10. On rare occasion, it's okay to wear PJ's all the time, and not shower for days

That was learned in the past, and is now applied in the present.
