“Learn to like what doesn't cost much.
Learn to like reading, conversation, music.
Learn to like plain food, plain service, plain cooking.
Learn to like fields, trees, brooks, hiking, rowing, climbing hills.
Learn to like people, even though some of them may be different...different from you.
Learn to like to work and enjoy the satisfaction doing your job as well as it can be done.
Learn to like the song of birds, the companionship of dogs.
Learn to like gardening, puttering around the house, and fixing things.
Learn to like the sunrise and sunset, the beating of rain on the roof and windows, and the gentle fall of snow on a winter day.
Learn to keep your wants simple and refuse to be controlled by the likes and dislikes of others.”

Schwester N. & my companions at Church

I have no idea how to work the bus schedule! But I pretend I do.

 Our lovely bunk beds!

Letter from June 17. (She didn't send it until the next week!)

Germany is AWESOME! I am in Dahlem, a rich suburb just outside of Berlin! Pretty close to POTSDAM! MY FAVORITE PLACE! We might go there next week for p-day. Pres. Kosak's favorite palace is the Sans Souci! So he was excited that I’d been there before.

He and his wife are SSOOOOO nice by the way. My companions, sister S and Sister T are the best! They are so nice and so fun to work with! Sometimes I'm positive they think I'm handicapped or something, but I don't think they understand my humor... ha-ha!

The Dahlem ward is great! Schwester N. is an angel. I love her.

I sat by her in sacrament meeting, because my comps were sitting by another investigator, and she told me that she would always be there for me. She said I could come over anytime or call her anytime and that she could be my German grandma while I was away from home. SHE IS THE BEST! I showed her a picture of my family and she gasped:

‘‘What a beautiful family you have! Your Brothers are so handsome!! Is that your older sister!?? She is lovely... Your papa looks kind... is he kind?!''

Other than Sister N., I don't know many adults in the ward. There is one little 8 year old girl, A., who is such a little tease! We had a lunch date with their family yesterday with the elders (who are the APS), and A. and I played the whole time. We played badminton, she tested my German vocab, and then she tried to get me to jump on the tramp with her.

We have 2 progressing investigators! H. and Herr M.! H. is a friend of Schwester X. who we meet with, and she seems really interested in the Gospel. She especially loves the family aspect of it. We have an appointment with her on Thursday!

Herr M. was a street contact. He is a retired doctor. He doesn't show emotion. EVER. But he keeps coming to church.

Everything is going swell!!

I'm having so much fun being a missionary. Its hard work, and terrifying, but I love it.

I AM IN GERMANY! I still can't believe it sometimes.

LOVE YOU!

Sister Stacie Norton
