“Learn to like what doesn't cost much.
Learn to like reading, conversation, music.
Learn to like plain food, plain service, plain cooking.
Learn to like fields, trees, brooks, hiking, rowing, climbing hills.
Learn to like people, even though some of them may be different...different from you.
Learn to like to work and enjoy the satisfaction doing your job as well as it can be done.
Learn to like the song of birds, the companionship of dogs.
Learn to like gardening, puttering around the house, and fixing things.
Learn to like the sunrise and sunset, the beating of rain on the roof and windows, and the gentle fall of snow on a winter day.
Learn to keep your wants simple and refuse to be controlled by the likes and dislikes of others.”

July 15th email

So this last week was literally CRAZY!
Not super busy, but just strange!

So excited to be in Park Sanssouci!!

BUT! I sent you something special in the mail last week.... from POTSDAMMMMMM!!
(We received a postcard from Stacie this week that she sent from Potsdam)

We went there on Tuesday, and spent nearly the whole day there! I WAS SO TIRED! We walked around everywhere!! But it was beautiful. We spent most of the day in Park Sanssouci, walking around and enjoying the palaces and gardens. It would have been relaxing but it was SO HOT. (I'm sure it didn't help that she was wearing a black blouse!) We bought tickets for a tour without realizing that it didn't start for 2 hours... So in that 2 hours we walked around the park some more, then walked to ''downtown'' Potsdam. Which by the way, was pretty hoppin' yo! I loved it there. I got a billion million photos, but I won't send any yet. There are way too many!

My Favorite palace in Germany!

On Wednesday we had Zone Training and the ''DAHLEM DOLLS'' (ahem. That's what we call ourselves) had to give an hour lesson... in GERMAN! It was so hard. So much German. But I got to know my zone a lot better! Potsdam is in my Zone! It was really weird though, because the two Potsdam elders kept talking about a member in their area who wanted to talk to Sister Norton, but they couldn't remember his name... So I just asked randomly ''Is his name Brother H''? I WAS RIGHT! apparently Blake's former companion has been wanting to meet me since I got here. I haven't talked to him yet, but when I do, I'll let you know. (Blake served with a German companion from Potsdam)

The CRAZIEST thing that happened this week was on Thursday. We were with Schwester X. going over the Sunday school reading, when President called sister T. Apparently, There was a sister the North Berlin zone whose dad died, and was going home soon. So her Companion, Sister J would be left companionless. So sister T is now her companion and they will be traveling between cities for the next week and a half until the end of the transfer.

I love you guys so much! I pray for your safety everyday.
I miss you all but I LOVE being a missionary. It's the greatest!

LOTS OF LOVE!
Sister Stacie
