“Learn to like what doesn't cost much.
Learn to like reading, conversation, music.
Learn to like plain food, plain service, plain cooking.
Learn to like fields, trees, brooks, hiking, rowing, climbing hills.
Learn to like people, even though some of them may be different...different from you.
Learn to like to work and enjoy the satisfaction doing your job as well as it can be done.
Learn to like the song of birds, the companionship of dogs.
Learn to like gardening, puttering around the house, and fixing things.
Learn to like the sunrise and sunset, the beating of rain on the roof and windows, and the gentle fall of snow on a winter day.
Learn to keep your wants simple and refuse to be controlled by the likes and dislikes of others.”

Mona Lisa Smile

If you are a female, and have not seen this movie.
Watch it. It gave me a whole new insight.
Back then, this was expected. This was all women were supposedly good for.

In this generation, it's now acceptable to be both a mother, wife, and an inspiration.
Exhibit A: Sarah Pallin

Calm down. I'm not going all politics on you. Just saying, she is a mother, and an inspiration to a lot of people.

IMDB says this about the movie:
"Katherine Ann Watson (Julia Roberts) has accepted a position teaching art history at the prestigious Wellesley College. Watson is a very modern woman, particularly for the 1950s, and has a passion not only for art, but for her students. For the most part, the students all seem to be biding their time, waiting to find the right man to marry. The students are all very bright and Watson feels they are not reaching their potential. Altough a strong bond is formed between teacher and student, Watson's views are incompatible with the dominant culture of the college."

It inspired me. To the max.
Don't worry, I won't go all anti-motherhood on anyone.
Just a new view.
