“Learn to like what doesn't cost much.
Learn to like reading, conversation, music.
Learn to like plain food, plain service, plain cooking.
Learn to like fields, trees, brooks, hiking, rowing, climbing hills.
Learn to like people, even though some of them may be different...different from you.
Learn to like to work and enjoy the satisfaction doing your job as well as it can be done.
Learn to like the song of birds, the companionship of dogs.
Learn to like gardening, puttering around the house, and fixing things.
Learn to like the sunrise and sunset, the beating of rain on the roof and windows, and the gentle fall of snow on a winter day.
Learn to keep your wants simple and refuse to be controlled by the likes and dislikes of others.”

June 24th Letter

I am so sorry you didn't get my letter last week! I thought I sent one! But I sent it again, so I hope you get it! :)
This week was splendid. We had Zone Conference as you know! It was so uplifting. President and Sister Kosak truly are such wonderful people. Sister Kosak gave a great talk on perspective and having a grateful attitude. She shared a scripture that will forever be a favorite. Nephi had been tied up by his brothers for 4 days, had just been untied and explained his situation... He was in SO MUCH PAIN and agony! But this is what he said... ''Nevertheless, I did look unto my God, and I did praise him all the day long; and I did not murmur against the Lord because of mine afflictions'' 1 Nephi 18:16 .... What a great guy!! Seriously! We can learn so much from him.
The work in Dahlem is coming along! We have one maybe two people who are really interested in the Gospel. One of them is Herr M. He is such a sweet man! I have only met with him twice, but I can see how the gospel is affecting him. We watched the finding faith in Christ film (which is super funny in German BTW) and he was tearing up at the end of the film. I LOVED WATCHING HIM WATCH IT! It sounds super creepy, but I could tell he was feeling the spirit so strong for the first time...
We meet with a lot of less actives and recent converts! We just want to make sure that those lost sheep are found! Schwester N. (Jaron's German Oma) is such a gem! We met with her on Saturday and she doesn't look too well.
I am so grateful for my family. We meet with a sister in the ward named Schwester X. She is so AWESOME! She is so fun to be around and is so kind! She speaks English really well and teaches English classes for free to some of her friends. I showed her a picture of my family and she was in awe and how ''picture perfect'' we looked. I assured her we are not a perfect family.... She asked why we all looked so happy and I told her it was because of Jesus Christ and his Gospel. He is the foundation of our family! I am so grateful for Him. I love Jesus Christ so much. Because of his Atonement, The plan of salvation is not only a dream or a hope, but a reality...
FAMILIES ARE FOREVER! It's true.
I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!

Sister Norton
