“Learn to like what doesn't cost much.
Learn to like reading, conversation, music.
Learn to like plain food, plain service, plain cooking.
Learn to like fields, trees, brooks, hiking, rowing, climbing hills.
Learn to like people, even though some of them may be different...different from you.
Learn to like to work and enjoy the satisfaction doing your job as well as it can be done.
Learn to like the song of birds, the companionship of dogs.
Learn to like gardening, puttering around the house, and fixing things.
Learn to like the sunrise and sunset, the beating of rain on the roof and windows, and the gentle fall of snow on a winter day.
Learn to keep your wants simple and refuse to be controlled by the likes and dislikes of others.”

Pack that Backpack, Babe

"Holla at yo boi!"
College starts tomorrow, and I've never been this excited and scared.
It's a strange feeling, let me tell you.
Here's what I'm hoping for at my first year at college.

1. To date attractive, nice college boys.
2. Acquire buns of steel from speed walking on campus.
3. To get fabulous grades, obviously.
4. Meet new people, and try new things.
5. Not be judgmental. Because it hurts to be judged.
6. Make enough monies for my trip to Europe.
7. Muster up enough courage and confidence to move out next fall.
8. Party Hardy. Appropriate parties of course.
9. Not make a fool of myself.
10. Be more mature. I'm lacking in maturity.

Until tomorrow, I'll be praying my heart out that I don't get lost on campus,
and that I'll at least see one familiar face.
